A shelter over our heads.

It's been a while since we've posted, and mainly because our internet was out for about a week or so. Much has happened since then, so now it's catch up time!

First off - we finally have a place to live in Iowa!!!!! YIPPEEEEEE!!! Thanks to all the fabulous people from the University ward who helped us out. While at Lake Havasu we got an e-mail from their housing coordinator that included a list of members with their contact info that would be willing to tell us what they like/dislike about where they live. The night we got back we sent out a mass e-mail to them all, asking for EVERYTHING they could tell us about their place plus anywhere else they know about. By the end of the next day we had heard back from something like 15 people. AMAZING!!! So much good information, and such fast responses! We couldn't have asked for better help.

From it all, we met 2 families that live in a duplex in southern Iowa City. We liked the idea of having a yard, so we called the landlord and asked if they had any openings coming up for August. Guess what?! They had 1! And right next door to these two lovely families that have been such a blessing to us! (I know, I know, there are a lot of exclamation marks here, but I'm really excited.)

The neighbors were kind enough to send us some pictures of their place. It was built in the late 70s, so it has the dark cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom. My parents' place had the exact same stuff in it when we moved to MN years ago...feels kind of like going home. It looks very well upkept though, and they say it cleans up nicely, so we're excited!

So in less than a month we'll be moving to Iowa and into a 1600 sq. ft. duplex, with an unfinished basement (great for storage!!), washer/dryer hookups (yay!!), and a kitchen probably 3 times the size of my current one. Not to mention the benefits of a yard, a park a block away, and seemingly great neighbors (who have little kiddos of their own). And all for no more than what we would pay to live in an apartment.

Man, we are blessed!!!

Yay! Congratulations! Isn't neat how things just fall into place so nicely when you are doing something right? I love those kind of blessings. You'll have to post pictures when you guys get settled so we can all see your new place :)
