Count your many blessings....

The beginning of winter has left Boyd and I reflecting on the differences between now and last Christmas. Mainly we've been thinking about how thankful we are for the apartment we are in now. Here are some of the main differences...

The old apartment...
  • dead ants fell from the bathroom ceiling daily
  • lots of large spiders (and little ones, too! one lived in a whole in the wall in our shower)
  • no wall was complete with trim or an even paint job
  • a kitchen (could you even call it that?) with literally no counter, two cabinets, and no drawers
  • very limited water pressure in kitchen sink - or else the pipes would vibrate violently
  • no light fixtures, just bare bulbs
  • doorways Boyd would hit his head on
  • small basement windows
  • no heat
  • no closets, except for one that was the width and depth of a door
  • fireplace (good) that we only got to use twice
  • food and dishwater would come up the shower drain while doing a sinkfull of dishes
  • upstairs kitchen pipes running along wall at head of bed
  • ice cream truck parked two houses down with music going at 9:00 every night
  • very interesting neighborhood
  • the plus side: we had the best ward and neighbors we could have asked for!
new place!....
  • room for a table and chairs!
  • Boyd doesn't hit his head on doorways anymore
  • nice big windows
  • two nice big closets
  • a kitchen full of cabinets and drawers
  • still very little counter space
  • we have all the heat we want!
  • no more running water past our heads when we wake up in the morning
  • no ants!
  • closer to campus
  • close to my work
  • internet
  • room to have friends and family over
We are very grateful for the conveniences we have in life and for all the happiness and joy the Christmas season brings. We couldn't ask for much more in this life.
