My parents moved to CO the same time we moved back here to IA. Although we're super bummed that they're moving away from MN just when we're planning on moving up there for who knows how long, we sure felt lucky to spend a summer so close to each other. Let me just say we escaped to Grandma's house quite often. Whether it was because we needed to stretch our legs in the backyard or to cool off in the A/C, we always had a great time.
I'll miss their big backyard. I know Mom won't miss Dad's large quantities of fruit and vegetable producing plants (she's crossing her fingers that he won't plant quite as much at their new place), but they had the most beautiful backyard I know of. They didn't plant a garden this summer since they didn't know when they'd be leaving. But we did get to take advantage of their strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry crops. Yuuuuuuuummmy!
(JB got to help Grandma weed the dirt patch.)
GB took the best naps when we escaped to Grandma's house. For some reason she would just sleep the day away when we were there. JB liked to do everything but take a nap.
We're so thankful for her letting us come stay with her so often. The kids got to the point where they could recognize where we were going several streets before we even got there, and it was so nice to let them get to know her better. Too bad we didn't take more pictures :(
