Mother's Day:
What a glorious day! For some reason it was extra special this year. Nothing huge was done, but the simple acts of kindness like having dinner made and the dishes done (which Boyd does every Sunday anyway) were just perfect.After dinner I wanted to have a dessert that we all would enjoy, including the toddler, so we chowed on pudding with vanilla wafers. JB loved it! It was his first real experience with chocolate pudding, and it didn't take him long to learn that he could dip those yummy cookies in and use them as a spoon. What a cutie!
Cars:JB is obsessed with cars....all kinds. He takes his little Matchbox cars with him whenever we leave the house, he wants them when we eat dinner, it's the first toy he grabs in the morning, and the toy he takes to bed at night. In fact, he just ran out of his room for the upteenth time and headed straight for the car bin in the living room. (Any suggestions on his to get them to stay in their room/ in their bed. I know he's not scared, he just thinks it's cool that he can get up.)
Some of his favorite things to do now are to look at pictures/books/slideshows of tractors. He'd do it all day long if I could handle it. Boyd also introduced him to the movie Cars. It's the only movie JB will sit completely still through, and he begs to watch it daily.
The boys used to spend lots of time bonding and watching it all on the laptop. We've since gotten the DVD Cars which makes life a little easier.Water Fun:
This spring has been really warm. And what better to do on a hot day than to get together with friends and run through the sprinkler!

Black Family Reunion:
We took off the beginning of June and headed to Utah for Boyd's family reunion. This was the first time JB had been on a plane, and he did really well. It was also the first time (in his memory) to meet his Grandma and Grandpa Black, his aunts and uncles, and all of those many many cousins. It rained most of the time that we were at the lodge, but it was large enough that we all had plenty of fun indoors without being on top of each other.
We love having so much family, and we are very thankful that we got to go to the reunion this year. Most of the time it didn't even seem like we had been gone a whole year. We're so glad we got to see everyone!

Each day the tables in the garage turned into a craft station.
We stuck around town for a few days after the reunion. A big special thanks to Brett and Michelle for opening up their house to us. During this time we spent more time with family members, catching up and enjoying the (finally) sunny weather.

During our time in Utah we made sure to stop and visit my (Sarise's) grandparents. We wish more family members would have been in town so we could have seen them too, but it was good to see the few we were able to.
JB loved pulling Great Grandma's flowers and playing in their water fountain.
Now we're home from our travels, have been for a while, and are settling back into our routine.
When we got home we found our garden completely covered in grass that was nearly waist tall. It took us over a week just to uncover what was left of our plants. We lost our cabbage and cauliflower while we were gone to bugs. Our carrots never came up because of all the rain, rabbits are now eating our green beans, and we still have enough tall weeds between the rows that our garden looks more like a rain forest than a garden. It looks like our squash, melons, and tomatoes are going to do just fine though.
It's been a week and a half and JB is completely in transferred into his new bed. He just loves it!
My parents came into town for the 4th of July weekend. We played in the water, ate lots of good food, and went out to the Amana Colonies.
Classes have started for Boyd again. He's taking two easy ones this summer to make his fall semester a little easier. He has four interviews lined up that will happen during a job conference at the end of this month, and he's signed up to take the patent bar on August 23rd. Let's just pray that the baby doesn't come early :)

Paxton's absolute FAVORITE movie is Cars too! He also begs to watch it every single day and will carry around toy cars and the book Cars (based on the movie). I didn't know they could become so obsessed with something so young. By the way, did you get an invite to our blog???
