Springtime Fun

Being able to get outside and play has brought all sorts of fun these past months. We have had a really beautiful spring.

There aren't nearly enough pictures of all the things we've done, but here are a few. Many thanks to all our neighbors who have sent pics our way when our camera either didn't have batteries or was on the fritz.

Over Easter/Conference weekend we got a good rainstorm,
and all the kiddos went out and jumped in the mud puddle
in our front yard.

The Sunday after Easter we were invited to participate in an
egg hunt in our backyards with the three neighboring families.
On Easter we had hidden a few eggs in the living room for JB to find,
so he knew right away to open the eggs up and see what was inside.
He had lots of fun, and discovered he really likes malt balls (yuck!)
and jelly beans. We are so blessed to have such great
neighbors and friends!!

JB loves to play with Daddy's tools, and he also loves
to play with keys. So when Boyd got out the screwdriver to
replace the belts on our vacuum, JB went and grabbed some keys
which acted as his screwdriver. He sat right next to his dad and helped
the whole time. And when Boyd was done, JB handed all the parts
(in order!) to him to be put back together.

Now that the weather's nice we spend at least part of the day outside going on walks and playing with friends. If it were up to the kiddo we'd be outside all day long. When we found out we were going to be sticking around here for the summer we decided to get a garden plot at the park by our house. We've really enjoyed planning out what we're going to plant, and JB has lots of fun getting all muddy when we are down there weeding and planting.

We realize that there are many of you that we don't talk to on a regular, or even semi-regular basis, so I thought I'd give a quick update on each of our lives.

JB:
He's growing up way too fast. Out of nowhere he really started increasing his vocabulary a couple weeks ago. Now the first words out of his mouth when he wakes up are 'ball' or 'car'. Other common words we hear are 'bug', 'truck', 'uh-oh', and 'bye dad'. There are lots of other words we've heard once or twice. He also got his first trike this spring, and loves to practice riding it along the path in front of our house. Today was his third day in nursery, and so far he likes it as long as we're not in there.

Boyd:
This week is the last week of finals for him. I can't believe that we're already at the end of our first year of law school. He's ready to be done with classes and have a little bit more spare time to have fun this summer.

We were hoping for an internship elsewhere this summer, but that didn't happen. Instead Boyd is going to be working in the law clinic here on campus as a Spanish interpreter over this summer and next school year. This is a huge blessing b/c it allows us to pay instate tuition, which is a heck of a lot cheaper than out of state. The plan is he'll also take the patent bar and a couple classes over the summer. We're also waiting to hear back about an externship he's applied for where he'd be working with a judge a couple hours away.

On the fun side of things, he was able to buy a bike and he's really enjoyed riding that to school instead of taking the smelly bus.

He still teacher Elder's Quorum once a month, and we both are ward missionaries.

Me:
It's always hard to think of things to say about your own life. I spend most of my days doing the normal things normal stay at home moms do. We go in tomorrow to see if it'll be a boy or a girl we'll be welcoming into our home in Sept. I really have no feelings either way, and my preference as to what I want changes daily.

We miss our family and friends we don't get to see very often, and are very excited to be going out to Utah next month for the family reunion.
